Women’s History Month in March pays tribute to the generations of women whose stories are the fabric of our nation. At Sanofi, we’re proud to recognize the diverse contributions of women throughout our organization who help us achieve our mission to bring health and hope to patients.
Each year on March 8, International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action. Worldwide, organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media hold events to commemorate the day. This year’s theme for IWD was “Make It Happen,” encouraging effective action for advancing and recognizing women.
Last month, across many of our locations, we held events that offered development opportunities for employees, celebrated the contributions of Sanofi women or helped us support women in our local communities, discussing how to “Make It Happen.”
To kick off the month and in recognition of IWD, a panel discussion was hosted in Bridgewater by WISE (Women Inspiring Sanofi Excellence), a Sanofi Employee Resource Group that aims to serve as a catalyst for women to reach their full potential. In presenting the event, WISE partnered with Women Empowered (WE), a group with a similar mission at Cognizant, a leading provider of information technology, business consulting, enterprise applications and business process services.
In a spirited exchange, senior female leaders representing both companies encouraged women to make their voices and opinions heard, enlist their partners in supporting their career aspirations and be mindful not to set limits to their contributions. The two groups also worked collaboratively with Dress for Success to provide professional clothing to women returning to the workforce.
