At Sanofi, the work we do to make Diversity & Inclusion a priority is constantly evolving. Through feedback we received from our employees, our Employee Resource Group (ERG) Mentoring Program was implemented in 2015 through the joint efforts of some of our ERGS: PRIDE Connect, ADVANCE, VETS and MILL. Since then, it has helped pair many ERG members with mentors based on their interests, skills and experience, to foster personal and professional growth.
In any work environment, there may be ups and downs, great experiences, challenges and/or some stressful situations. One key to creating a successful and sustainable career is to determine an effective way to prepare for and manage different situations, with a positive and open mindset.
Recently, two of our Research and Development (R&D) employees, Amy Sheridan and Scott Harris, found success with this program. Amy wanted to learn how to better handle situations and garner different future results. Scott is a member of the Leadership Team for PRIDE Connect, has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for 20 years (10 at Sanofi), and is also an experienced personal life coach.
During an initial meeting, Amy and Scott worked together to identify Amy’s goals and objectives for the duration of the mentoring relationship, developed a plan of action and met regularly to discuss. Working with the techniques Scott helped Amy facilitate, she was able to create a rewarding and interesting opportunity to participate in one of Sanofi’s internal development programs, which includes on-the-job experience in an area of career interest. I’m proud of the work our ERGs have done to partner with each other, expand their networks, and foster opportunities for growth and development. The ERGs are a rich platform for shaping the culture at Sanofi.
