“A great validation of the diverse workforce at Sanofi US!” “Achieving this very important milestone is truly a wonderful achievement.” “Let’s continue on this trajectory as we build a culture of pride in the company’s diversity.”

These are just a few of the replies I received after notifying our leaders that Sanofi US received a perfect 100 score on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) equality. The CEI rates businesses on their treatment of LGBT employees, consumers and investors. Employers that have earned a 100 percent rating by satisfying all the criteria on the CEI survey are recognized as a “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”

A committed team prepared the CEI application, capturing all that the company does for LGBT equality. As we compiled the information, it made me feel proud to share examples of our company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and LGBT equality. We’ve made advances in our many LGBT-friendly programs, policies and initiatives – including greater supplier diversity, philanthropic support of LGBT organizations, and ensuring our benefits reflect our diverse population and are up-to-date with best practices.

I have to call out the members of our PRIDE Connect Employee Resource Group who have contributed so much to the work Sanofi US is doing to build a positive and inclusive environment for all our employees – regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. PRIDE Connect members help to educate employees by holding events that build awareness and employee solidarity. Two examples that come to mind are the vigil that PRIDE Connect held on our campus, following the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, and a presentation on bullying PRIDE Connect co-sponsored at our annual “Take Your Child to Work Day.”

Attracting a diverse and talented workforce is important to our success. That’s why I’m so proud to see Sanofi recognized as an inclusive company where prospective employees can feel comfortable in bringing their authentic selves to work. I will continue to work to demonstrate the values that led to our designation as a “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”
